Since updating to Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 my email has been unable to send. I have reset the settings dozens of time but my outgoing mail server is still offline. My ISP says many mac customers are having this problem - any ideas?

Check mail preferences>accounts make sure your outgoing mail server (SMTP) is set to server and not none. Also go to advanced and make sure authentication is set to password. If this is all right then try posting this on the Lion forum, this is the Snow Leopard forum, maybe you'll have more responses. All the best
I am also having trouble since updating Lion to 10.7.5. It seeme to work fine for a while and then suddenly stopped sending email. My setting are what you suggested.
Dinglebell... did you resolve your problem of being unable to send emails? I too have this problem... just in the last week with 10.7.5
It's driving me nuts that I can't send mail and my outgoing mail servers are 'offline'.
