I need help my iTunes stopped working on my mid 2007 MacBook!!

Okay, so I recently upgraded my Mac from snow leopard to lion. When I did so I found my iTunes to have stopped working. I thought it was because I never updated it while having snow leopard and just updated to lion, but I don't know. The promblem that I am having pop up everytime I try to start iTunes is this:

"iTunes cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure iTunes works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updayes for the application and Mac OS X."

SO with that I deleted every detail of my iTunes and re-downloaded it. I tried the newest version and then when I still recieved the same problem I deleted and tried again with an older version 10.6.8 and still no luck. Does anyone know what I should do? Should I reinstall leopard and then update itunes then re-download lion?!? It just startes to get expensive and lengthy. I would love it if anyone knew what it was that I should do to fix this because I cannot get any of my songs from iTunes onto my iphone, and it is driving me crazy! Thanks and I hope to hear from someone!

P.S. I keep trying to search for new software updates as well but with no luck with that either. So I am stuck with the 10.7.0.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.7)

Open  > About this Mac > More Info and copy Software. I think you use a pre-release Lion version
