I did the same thing. No recovery, had to go to apple store and upgrade to IOS 6.1.0 and its really bad. Can't go back to the original. I'm sorry I bought this phone.

We had planned on iPad for our kids for Christmas and due to this problem and the poor reviews and poor customer service we will not be purchasing the three iPads.

There is no reason to go to an Apple store to restore it, simply connect it to your computer.

Whether you buy your kids iPads or not is irrelevant, no one here cares.

I personally have not seen a single poor review... they all rave about the iPad.

The only person you have to blame for locking yourself out of your iDevice is yourself. Trying to force that blame upon someone else or a corporation is the height of stupidity.

I did not blame anyone for the lockout. And yes, my Mac was not able to restore as it was purchased in 2009, so I HAD to go to genus bar for update. I am seeing many flaws and slow uploads and non google map app problems. These are things that Apple should address. So Mr Vdub, research before you reply.

Maybe you should get a different phone, Janiswendy, if you are so unhappy. Then you can troll some other support forums.

I answered the post as I had the same experience. The fact that it was not satisfactory does not make me a TROLL. I merely want to share it and possibly get some fixes. You, sir, are not helpful. If you don't have an intelligent answer or experience with the problem the perhaps you should be playing with your perfectly working apps.

Seems you have some serious anger issues... maybe it's time to seek professional help to address them.

If you had iCloud backups turned on then you can retrieve at least some of your content after you restore the phone. You can logon to icloud.com with your AppleID to see what, if any, content was backed up to iCloud.
