That error message usually indicates that the disk is formatted improperly.
How is the disk formatted?

The problem is with the actual update itself. I was on the phone to Apple with the same problem. For some reason the update won't be able to install on 13" retina macbooks until they release a new one.
The guy i spoke to said he was unsure as to how long that would be.
Hope that helped...
Now hopefully your not OCD because that little red "1" over the app store icon is driving me crazy! 🙂
by new i mean new update, not new retina macbook
same thing here
I just finished migration to my new macbook pro 13" retina and now I can't even open aperture since it needs (like iPhoto) 10.8.2
Same here.
I got my 13'' retina last thursday and could update to 10.8.2. A couple of hours later the machine crashed all the time. I brought it back to the apple store and they exchanged the unit. When I got home I tried the system update - and got all the issues mentioned above. I'm starting to wonder whether Apple pulled the update for the 13'' retina MBP since the update resulted in the crash.
Same here with mine new 13" Retina what I bought last thursday.
Same here, can't open iphoto or download its update. The update to 10.8.2 appeared on my list and then suddenly disappeared.
Juste received my new MacBook Pro 13 Retina today
I was ready to upgrade to 10.8.2 but not available on the AppStore
I've tryed to download the upgrade file but same issue as everybody
I found this article dedicated to this upgrade but won't charge

At this time still stuck on 10.8.1
Just got my 13" with Retina and am having the exact same issue. It's so frustrating ! Hope it's resolved soon cause I can't update iPhotos, so the red 1 will continue to drive me crazy as well !!!!
Same problem here. Waiting for the update in order to use iphoto and see my pics over the retina display. Frustrating and a bit disappointed.
Same issue here. That '1' is driving me crazy. I may habe to take the app store off my dock.
AJ, Iphoto still works.
It does work, but it's not the latest version which is why the app store is asking me to update it but because of the issue we are having, it can't be updated at this moment, so the notice won't go away !
cannot upgrade to 10.8.2 on 13" retina
