Any idea what would cause this? I have a 32gb iPhone 5 running the latest update. I've tried to restore it and start over and it still lags so bad, especially scrolling through apps. It's even been freezing lately when texts come in. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Double click the home button to enter your recently used apps, hold down the app until they jiggle and quit them. That should speed up the device. Did that help you?
That's the thing! I clear all my apps as soon as I'm done with them. I have no idea why it's doing this. It started at first with lagging once in a while. Now it's doing it all the time and freezing.
Try holding down the home button and sleep wake button until it restarts, see if your device response faster.
