I connected my ipod touch 5 to my computer so i can sync in some new songs. But when i connect it all i get is a pop up saying error itunes can not support this iphone. What does that even mean? I just want to know how to get my ipod touch connected again.

To make this clear the pop up doesn't even show anymore. My Ipod is not conneting to itunes!!!

Also, try another cable. Some users have reported problems with the Lightning cable. The cable contains active components, it is not just wires.
