I have an ipod 1 st generation. itunes doesnt recognise it. I applied for the replacement program about two months ago but nothing yet.life *****

Did the Nano not qualify for replacement? It should have indicated right away whether it did or not. Here is the link to the replacement program.

yeah it was accepted. but never received the box. dunno might be some screw up in the post as I'm living abroad at the moment. would I b able to contact someone at Apple through email? thanks for hour help

I would call AppleCare by phone and see what happened. They should be able to send you another box.
