I can connect to wifi with my iphone 4 when I am near the router but when I move away the signal goes off completely. Please help I've tried restarting my phone and still no difference

Roughly how far away from the router do your iPhone loss the Wi-Fi signal? Same room, another room, or another floor? Are there other Wi-Fi networks nearby? For example, do you live in an apartment or condo complex where you have a lot of neighbors?

Since this is happening with any Wi-Fi, I would suggest that you make an appointment at your local Apple Store to see if they can find something that may be amiss with your iPhone.
