Can I purchase Mountain Lion and it work on multiple computers? I have a desktop and a laptop and do not want to purchase Mountain Lion twice! Thank you for your input.

You must only purchase Mountain Lion once.
After that you may download and install it on as many computers as you own, for which Mountain Lion is compatible, and that use the same Apple ID.
Also, so you don't have to download it twice, don't let it start installing immediately after it downloads. Copy the Installer file that is in the Applications folder to another disk. Then you can use that to update the other Mac.
Also, make sure they meet the specs for Mountain Lion:
It is also helpful to use the same Apple ID on both computers for registration and App Store sign-in.
