my iphone 4 went off and wont come back on

i woke one morning and my ipone 4 was off so i turned it back on and noticed the battery had 38%. I tried to slide the screen and it locked up and went off and wont come back on

This is usually feature of faulty battery. Charge it up and see if you can get it working correctly. If not battery replacement may be the next step.

Reset the phone (no data loss): Press both home and power buttons for at least 10 seconds, and release when the Apple logo appears.
