A couple of troubleshooting steps:
1.) Do you have iCloud Mail checked on both computers in their respective iCloud preference panels? Are both computers logged in with the same iCloud account?
2.) Have you 'forced' synchronized the email accounts on both computers? That can be done from within Apple Mail by clicking Mailbox > Synchronize All Accounts.
3.) What do things look like "on the cloud" via the web view of Mail at iCloud.com? Do they look like the desktop or the laptop?
1. iCloud is checked and set up correctly on both computers with respect to their preference panels and both computers are logged in with the same iCloud account.
2. I have forced the sync on both computers multiple times ... nothing changes.
3. When viewed online at iCloud.com, the folders are not the same. The recently added folders are not showing up on within iCloud. The same problem as the laptop. Only the desktop retains the correct folders once added.
Not sure what to do now ...
Jason ... MY MISTAKE ... How careless of me. Actually everything has been working fine. I assumed that iCloud would also customize the order of the folders as I had set them up in order of preference on my desktop. I did not relaize that iCloud online and my laptop both have the correct folders in place and were placed in alphabetical order ... sorry ... problems solved.
I do appreciate your help because at least now I know that I was following the proper troubleshooting procedure.
Happy to help. Glad to hear there wasn't a bigger issue or sync problem. To add one final remark, the content on iCloud.com is considered the primary in Apple's eyes (if you ever needed to consult with their support team). So if you ever run into an issue with a client, you'll always want to verify what is "on the cloud" first.
