iphone 5 died

This morning while going down the road I noticed my iphone flashing on and off. While I watched it it went to a screen of all bars and some dashes and # signs. Then it quit. A hard reset won't restart it and plugging it into my computer doesn't make it appear in itunes. *** is going on? What do I do?
