My background light on my iPhone 4S is not working properly. What do I need to do?

My background is dimming & not coming back on by itself. My screen will go black & I can't see anything. Then a few seconds later (up to a minute sometimes) it will come back on. I need to know why & how it can be fixed. My phone is not damaged.

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.0.1

Restore iPhone with iTunes on computer. If still problem it is either LCD Display and entire front assembly will need to be replaced. Or worse it is Logic Board fault and there is no reasonable fix. If there is Warranty or AppleCare, make Genius reservation and take to Apple for resolution.
