iMessage not working for me and my friends

Hey, my iMessage went out about two hours ago.I thought initially it was just me, but all of my friends are having the issue too, I don't see any notes of iMessage being out as of yet for today, november 18th. It would not activate for me, and now it is activated, but my phone number is grayed out and i am unable to select it. when i select "use email" it won't accept my password. My friend (4s)can't even get it to activate for her. what is up apple???

******UPDATE*******
i just shut off iMessage and turned it on again, and got an error message saying "An error occured during activation, please try again* grrrrrrrrrrr😠

iPhone 4, iOS 6.0.1

too many outages lately..wonder what is going on with it? sad to say, but when i was blackberry my bbm never went out this much

I heard last week they had troubles with iMessage, but it was fully functional for me. But this time it's not working.. Tried rebooting my iPad and turning iMessage off then back on. iMessage is activated.. But I'm getting the error messages that my messages is not sending.. So, I'm not sure what's behind it.. The App Store had issues earlier in this week for some. But I heard it was quickly dealt with, hopefully this gets handled quickly..

I hope so too, this is one of the most used abilities in apple, so lets hope they dont f...this up :D

I hope so too. It has been a few hours now and still not fixed. My store was out yesterday. My iMessage has been off more than its been on lately. When i had a blackberry i can count on one hand the amount of times bbm was out in the 2.5 years i had it...and apple is supposed to be superior? iMessage is basically the only thing keeping me an apple customer

Mine is out too as of 30 minutes ago, I have no idea what is going on. I thought possibily it could have been my service.

thanks Larry, I wonder if they will have it fixed any time soon? seems this new iOS is junk. I was just texting a friend and a warning popped up saying that i was in airplane mode, yet my phone showed 3G and airplane mode was off.

I even tried to restore mine and it did nothing.

having same problems for about two hours now! this is terrible since iOS 6 came out imessage just stops working for a few minutes every once in a while but now its just been dead for hours!! i hope apple releases some update for this soon!

same here, it's been off and on, but this is so far the longest outage. I hope there are no security issues. ever since this iOS update nothing wants to work. for the first day of 6.0 i had to use passport to log in so i could access the store

I'm having the same issues as well. It cut me off in the middle of face timing and I thought it was me. But my number is greyed out in FaceTime setting and iMessage just won't activate.
