Need help with Contacts and iCal

We are moving from Entourage for email, calebdar and address list. I can't seem to find any user guide or manul to help us with this transion. I can only find some vague help in the iPad users manual.

My biggest issues right now are with Contacts (address book ). I am not finding much hep in dealing with groups.

Can anyone point me in the direction of some online help with this?

I am bumping this to update anyone needing the same info.

My wife and I ech have a MBP that runs on Mtn Lion. If we open help in contacts the help site is not available.

I went to our older iMac runing on Snow Lepoard and if I open contacts ( Address Book on that machine) the help site is available and I can get some questions answered.

FYI

I found out that If a contact is highlighted (selected) and you tap the alt key any group that the contact is a part of turns a blue color.

Besides not being able to use the help file, what questions do you have?

I don't think I've ever used a help file except to see if there was any information in it that I could point to helping out here.

Just open it up and use it. Try out stuff. Experiment with Smart Groups. Poke around and little and see what happens.

If a card doesn't have the fields you are looking for, go to the Card menu and Add Field. Besides Groups (and Smart Groups) there isn't much to it.

As you found out, the option key provides some options. However, Contacts being very basic, doesn't have much beyond what you found.

While it is a very basic piece of software, it would be a very long time before I stumbled on to something like the option key highlighting groups.

Is it just our 2 MBP's that can't into the Help site, or is it infact not available ?

Anyhow with the help site from the older operating system we are OK with Contacts, now it's on the iCal and mail.

Try deleting com.apple.helpviewer.plist and com.apple.help.plist from your user Library/Preferences folder.

To get to the user Library, hold down the Option key and select Library from the Go menu in Finder, then open the Preferences folder.

While it is a very basic piece of software, it would be a very long time before I stumbled on to something like the option key highlighting groups.

I agree that it is not very well-known, but if you understand the Mac OS, you know that the Option key provides "options." Whenever a new version of the software is released, I pretty much go through every menu and toggle the option key to see what is available. Same for programs, dialog boxes, etc. That's how I stumbled upon it.
