Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Fix For "This disk cannot be used to start up your computer."

1. Open Disk Utility


2. Click the hard drive with the Mac partition


3. Look at the bottom right because the partition map scheme should be "GUID Partition Table"


4. Click Partition


5. Click your Mac partition under "Partition Layout:"


6. Click - (next to the +)


7. Click Remove


8. Click the free space


9. Change the format to Mac OS Extended (Journaled)


10. Rename the partition to Macintosh HD


11. Click Apply


12. Close Disk Utility


13. Reinstall Mac OS X


14. If this fails, then open Disk Utility again


15. Click Macintosh HD


16. Click Erase


17. Click Erase...


18. Click Erase


19. Exit Disk Utility


20. Reinstall Mac OS X


21. Retry steps 1-20 until you can install
