Logic Pro 9.1.8 Not working on Mountain Lion, help!

Hi there

I bought my new MBP last week, and first thing I did was to buy Logic straight from the app store. I'd heard that this problem had occured to others, but I thought it had been fixed with 9.1.8, both from what apple have said, and what others have said on the support forums. Basically;

Opening Logic causes it to start a basic content download (2GB), which it then completes, and installs. At the end of installation, the app crashes. Reopening it starts the whole process again.

I have no way of being able to solve this that I can see from here, and trying to get any help directly from apple is turning out to be pretty tough. The app store people have offered to refund me so I can repurchase it... but this doesn't really seem like the most helpful move. I don't fancy rebuying it only to hit the same problem. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

Thanks in advance 🙂

I don't believe you are charged for redownloading, your purchases/purchase history are stored with your Apple ID. In the past when I've had to redownload an App, it has done so without an added charge so I assume the same rings true for Logic (someone please correct me if I'm wrong about this).

This may seem like a bit of a dumb question, but have you tried disabling your wi-fi/internet connection when starting up the program? Perhaps that will bypass the content downloads (assuming that's what the program is trying to do).

If your OS is up to date and if you've tried checking your disks/permissions, you have to try a clean install.

So if I'm understanding you right, the app downloads and when you try to open the program by clicking on icon, it starts to update and them freezes? If that's the case, you could try seeing if you can manually download the updates.

I'm afraid that's all I can really contribute. Hopefully someone else can chime in with some assistance.

Cheers.
