iphone to iphoto import duplications??

when i link my iphone to iPhoto it highlights previously imported photos as new photos, when i link my iphone to iPhoto it highlights previously imported photos as new photos

iPhoto '11, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

I have the same problem.

MacMini 2010, Mavericks, iPad 3, iPhone 5 (all latest upgrade)
