hi looking for help to fix my phone ive spent hours tryng to get it fixed i up dated my 3gs from 4.1 to ios 6.1 then back to 4.1 it still doesnt work

iPhone 3GS, iOS 4.1, network virgin mobile

my phone used to be orange network then got it changed to vodafone then now ive changed to virgin when you get a phone opened to all networks then do a software update could that current networks data get scrubbed when it gets updated ?
