Trying to play garage band?

I just bought an audio interface to use with my MacBook Air. I want to use garage band and plug in my guitar. Im having trouble figuring out how to do that. I plugged in the guitar and nothing was happening on garage band. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks

Choose the interface in GarageBand > preferences > audio/midi as your input and choose whatever you are monitoring with as output. Create a real instrumen/guitart track and choose the input channel in the track info window (probably channel 1 mono depending what interface you have).
