I just purchased two ringtones from iTunes, using my iPhone 4S, which is updated to the latest IOS. They are nowhere to be found on my phone, and, when I go into iTunes, they are not listed under tones. Where on earth did they go?
To select a ringtone on the iPhone: Device Settings > Sounds > Ringtone
Getting ringtones folder to show in iTunes - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2629494 - iTunes > Preferences. Under the General tab below Show, confirm Ringtones is selected
If you didn't get around to transferring them from your phone to iTunes then they won't be on your computer. Ringtones and audiobooks cannot be downloaded more than once from the iTunes Store without buying them again. It is critical you make a backup ASAP when you get them.
Under Sounds I don't have a Ringtone folder. Under sounds I see Vibrate, Ringer and Alertsand Sounds and Vibration Patterns. Under Sounds and Vibration Pattersns, I see my currently selected ringtone as Spell. If I go into that folder, and look under Ringtones or Alert Tones, my purchased ringtones do not show. I can see my tones folder in iTunes, as I did tick the box to show tones, but there are no ringtones shown in iTunes, the folder is empty.
How do I transfer purchased ringtones from my phone to iTunes? Do you mean syncing, or transferring? I don't know how to transfer, only sync. I did sync, immediately after I purchased the tones, but there is still nothing on either my phone, or iTunes.

I did as you suggested. Nothing transferred. There is no content on my phone, but the money has been taken out of my account. :-) I guess I will call customer service.

If you have Root access to the phone, they are located in var/mobile/library/ringtones.
Where are purchased ringtones stored?
