Appletv and Seagate goflex Network drive

I have appletv and I want to buy a seagate goflex netdrive so that I can set up a home network. I have heard that seagate's goflex network drive has issues working with appletv. Has anyone encountered this problem? How did you resolve it? How can I set up a home network so that my appletv will recognize the drive if seagete goflex network drive doesnt work? Thanks for any help.

jrobison,

Not sure what the final setup you want to achieve but let's discuss step by ste.

Apple TV is unable to read from a network drive. Apple TV can either stream the content online or access iTunes library on any computer on your local network.

Not sure where your drive comes in.

If you thinking of haveing the seagate drive as a media server - this is fine but Apple TV will no go anywhere near it. The only way it will read from it is if you put your iTunes library onto it but the traffic will still need to go via iTunes onthe computre.

It would be easier if you could explain the ideal working scenario for you so we can discuss it in more details.
