how do I update from mail 4.5

recently upgraded from 10.6.2 to 10.8.2.

Current mail is 4.5 Won't open now.

What do I do?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), mail won't open in Mtn Lion

Something went wrong during upgrading, or you re-installed the old Mail app from a backup after the upgrade. Your pick - which one do you choose? 😉

Guess you'll need to re-install Mountain Lion... use Recovery.

Mail should be 6.2.

I didn't re-install the old mail app after the upgrade.

Should the mail app have gone from 4.5 to 6.2 during the upgrade process?

Well, the Mail app is part of OS X, meaning that with a new OS X version you'll get a new Mail version, too, eventually.

So then, give it one more try and re-install Mountain Lion?
