would i be better off getting the ipad mini or the ipad 2 upgraded to ios6

I want an IPAD that is fast and good for education, so I want to know if getting the IPAD mini is better then getting the IPAD 2 upgraded to IOS6 ,and witch one would I be better off getting.

The iPad mini is basically a smaller iPad 2. However, there are a few differences.
