I tryed to updaye my I phone nad when I did I lost all my contact information, it said it was backing it up but know I can't find it to reinstall on my phoe

I need to know how to put the info that is backed up on my computer ( contacts ) back on my I phone- I lost all my info when I tried to update the software

iPhone 3GS, iOS 6.0.1

If you want to restore your phone to a backup on your computer, connect your phone to iTunes, right-click on the name of your phone on the left side and select Restore from Backup. However, contacts are often not recoverd from a backup; maybe you'll get lucky though.
