Do iTunesU courses affect your grades (GPA)?

I just downloaded iTunesU and I was wondering if these courses affect your grades and GPAs in high school, college, etc. Are they in any way connected to transcripts? Is it like an online school where you get credit for taking a class through it? I'm really interested in taking creative writing but if I should mess up on something throughout the course, I don't want it to have a connection to or affect on my GPA or grades. If anybody has any information regarding this subject, please respond. It will be much appreciated.
