Nov 19, 2012 7:58 PM in response to Tarun Chaddaby ChrisJ4203,Apple does not unlock phones, carriers unlock phones. The only alternative to that is if you purchased an unlocked phone from Apple. Who is your carrier? Where did you purchase the phone?

I had purchased the unlock Ipjone in New York-
I am now in India and have a local SIM card which is not reading on the Itunes
I called the local carrier and they said it is the Apple whoi have to rtake care of it.
If I use the local SIM card in any other phone - it does work

Nov 19, 2012 8:14 PM in response to Tarun Chaddaby ChrisJ4203,Where did you purchase it in New York and when? If it is the iPhone 5, then it is locked to a carrier in the US. Apple would be the only ones to sell unlocked phones in the US, and they are not selling them yet. If it is not the iPhone 5, what one is it?

Nov 19, 2012 8:19 PM in response to Tarun Chaddaby ChrisJ4203,Where in New York? Was it the Apple Store? How long have you been in India, did it ever work with a local SIM? Are you getting this error as you just updated software on the phone?

Nov 19, 2012 8:33 PM in response to ChrisJ4203by Tarun Chadda,i got in Manhattan from AT&T-
This error came after I updated the software since Apple confirmed and I have spoken with them and they confirmed it is officially iunlocked since I have full filled their terms of the agreement.
This phone was working earlier since i had jail broken it.
I have been using it with jail break for about 2 years now

Nov 19, 2012 8:35 PM in response to Tarun Chaddaby ChrisJ4203,AT&T are the ones that would have to unlock it. It is not officially unlocked, since you are stating the phone is jailbroken. The discussion of jailbroken devices is not allowed on the forum, it voilates the TOS. It also voides the warranty, and any support you would get from Apple or the forum. Sorry, end of conversation.
