My iphone 4s got lost/stolen. Via icloud, I trace it to a home. Locked iphone Filed a police report but they would not intervene. Via icloud I locked the phone and displayed my home phone. Filed police report. Tried to erase but it's "pending""

Via icloud, I remotely tried to erase the contents of my lost/stolen iphone and disconnected the service, but the status is "pending"

Does it mean that the contents will get erased, or my data may be at risk? Should I inform apple of the loss and give the serial number?

I already filed a police report and suspended the service. Thanks for your input

Thanks for your input. I have couple of questions. As soon as I found out the iphone is lost/stolen, via icloud I locked the phone. Usually does it mean that the other party cannot access my data? Also, how can I find out if the contents are erased? Through icloud the status is "Erase request is pending", will the content be erased when the iphone is turned on? Thanks

... here's the section that leads me to believe your device will be erased.

From the above article, it's under General Issues ... Device Appears ... but is offline:

[This can occur if ...]

Your device is powered off (for example, the battery has run out—note that the remaining battery for the device, if it's connected to the Internet, displays in the upper-right corner of the information pane of the selected device). You can still send a play a sound request to, or a message to, issue a lock request, or initiate an erase of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, and it will be received once the device is turned on and regains its Internet connection.
