Recovery mode on a brand new iPod 5g?

When I connect my iPod to my PC, it says that it is on recovery mode, and it says that I have to download the newest IOS and restore it, I already had the IOS 6.0.1. I can't use my iPod, and when it ends, nothing happens. what should I do? Thank you.

So you haven't done a restore? It sounds like you are just downloading the new iOS. When you connect it to your pc (iTunes) it will ask you if you're having problems and if you want to restore it. Go ahead and do a restore.

One more question, does your iPod show up in iTunes when it's connected?

FYI, I'm going to bed and won't see your reply until tomorrow. Good luck.

Ok, have you tried this yet?

Restarting and resetting iPod touch

If something isn’t working right, try restarting iPod touch, forcing an app to close, or resetting iPod touch.

Restart iPod touch: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPod touch. To turn iPod touch back on, hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

If you can’t turn off iPod touch or if the problem continues, you may need to reset iPod touch. A reset should be done only if turning iPod touch off and on doesn’t resolve the problem.

Force an app to close: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until a red slider appears, then hold down the Home button User uploaded fileuntil the app quits.

You can also remove an app from the recents list to force it to close. See Opening and switching between apps on page 17.

Reset iPod touch: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Let me know how it's going.

Regards, Richard

Maybe:

Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)

Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .

Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

Last, try restoring on another computer.

Hi Manuel,

glad it worked out for you. What a bummer to have a great new device and having the problems you had.

I just have the iPod touch 4th generation and I've really enjoyed it but the 5th generation looks awesome!
