my macbook pro won't start up

Hi,

My Mac Book Pro won't start up. I've tried the SMC reset (pressing shift-control-option, then power button) but it only results in the laptop playing the startup "chime" and flashing a white screen before powering down again. Any suggestions how to fix this?

You need to take your machine into your local Apple Store or an AASP. If the machine is 'powering down' on it's own, it's likely a severe hardware problem. You can try - and I do mean try - to run the Apple Hardware Testand see if you come up with any errors. That might help isolate the problem(s).

But it really needs to be looked at by a tech.
