Wifi continually disconnects from Macbook

I don't have a lot of space on my desk. I use a bookarc to stand my Macbook upright vertically to save space. But it does nothing but cause the system to disconnect spontaniously at its leisure when when layed flat like normal it seems to be fine. I thought the wifi reciever was meant to be in the top of the lid so having it upright vertically shouldn't affect the wifi should it? makes things a pain when I just want to browse the internet. Is there anything software wise affecting the system in case? I don't see why I should compromise and be forced to use it layed on a desk if I have an external screen and mouse+keyboard combo just to have a nice non-breaking internet.
