I have an old G3 500 mhz imac running 10.3.9. I want to erase the hard disk before junking it but no longer have the start up disc. Anyone know another way or maybe how I could get hold of a start up disc again for 10.3.9?

Since you are going to junk it, just remove the hard drive. Then using a hammer, smash the hard drive.

Another way is to use FireWire Target Disk Mode.

On another Mac, run Disk Utility, select that disk and erase it securely.

The single pass method is adequate.
