What do I do to fix the jitter issues when watching movies?

I have over 12Mb bandwidth and the apple tv is on the latest firmware. I've had the device for over a year and it's never improved with the new firmware releases. I know it's not the TV or cabling as I watch BlueRay through the same receiver and HDMI cable to the TV. Any ideas?
