Since you'd be adding 33% more RAM, there will be some (not "Oh my goodness, look how fast that is!") improvement in graphics editing, running programs like Pages, Numbers, or Office.

But there will not be any significant improvement to internet browsing.

I'd skip the RAM upgrade, set the money aside to start saving for a iMac upgrade.
