can i save print queue

Is it possible to save the print queue contents for printing later or backing up? All my printers (old and new) do not print any document which has been "on hold" but will print "new" documents. Further, when I press "resume" the previously selected "on hold" document disappears.

I would like to "reset printer system" (menu = right click on printer list), but it seems that will erase all the items in the queue's. I would like to save them befroe losing them.

Macbook Pro, Snow Leopard, 10.6.8
