Epson Perfection 1650 Scanner won't work with 10.7.5, help?

I have this exact same problem? Was there ever a solution posted anywhere?

I don't know whether the original problem was ever solved. I have an Epson Perfection 1670 which works fine under 10.7.5. I'm of course not able to use the original Epson software, since it isn't supported anymore. I'm using Image Capture, which comes with the operating system. As I recall, Software Update gave me a TWAIN driver to use.

As listed on Epson's site the drivers are available via Apple Software Update.

Ensure the scanner is powered on and directly connected to your Mac, then try following the steps below:

Now try opening the Image Capture application within the Applications folder and check if your scanner appears.

If the scanner cannot be located yet try restarting your Ma and check for any difference.

If the same still persists try resetting the printing system, then try adding the scanner again as listed on Epson's site.

Finally, if you still having issue getting the drivers from ASU try installing the package below and try scanning from Image Capture again:

I don't have a free solution but a good paid one is VueScan. $40 and it works with pretty much all scanners. It is working great with my 1650 and 10.8. Installed in a minute, plugged in the scanner and good to go.

Using Image Capture works great with my 10.8. I like it better than the original Epson software. You can even select where you wish the scanned

image to go; picture, desktop ect.
