Kids are on my iTunes account. If they download all their music to their iPhones, will it stay there if they creat a new apple ID?

My kids use my iTunes account, so their music and apps are mixed with mine on the iTunes store.

If they use their iPhones and go to ITunes store, tap on "more", then "purchased", they can choose the songs they've purchased and download only them to their devices.

But if they then create their own Apple accounts, will the downloaded music still be on the their iPhones? Will they still have access to it? I've heard you can't transfer purchases between two accounts. Why not?

You can't currently transfer purchases between accounts as Apple haven't added that ability. As long as the old account remains authorised on the computer that they sync to then they should be able to continue using that music, and it will remain on their phones.

If they do create their own accounts then if they turn on automatic downloads or re-download past purchases for an account then they risk tying the phone (or computer if that is where they do it) to that account for 90 days : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627
