not able to manually load a mail account?

The option to turn off the "auto" option does not appear when I try to load a mail account and the auto load keeps loading a IMAP and I want a POP? (Yahoo or AT&T)?
MacBook Pro (15-inch Mid 2010), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
