how to get itunes to open?

Basically itunes stopped opening up. Shows a working sign then nothing. Re-loaded itunes, but makes no difference. It now is happening on my desktop and laptop. Most annoying as I have leagally paid for movies and music which I can not access now. Need to get this sorted. I use itunes for work to transfer outlook material (the little Apple will allow me to)
