Retrospect takes too long to compare

I have a X-SERV RAID and I just got the Exabyte VXA-2 and am using retrospect 6.0.204. I am not looking to back up the entire RAID. I will at some point, but right now I am just trying to remove some old material that I no longer need but don't want to delete forever. I think I should be using the archive or the move function. Performing the backups seems to work ok. I am getting about 160mb/sec. I start getting problems with the compare or varification process. It seems to never end. I did one 73gig backup that took one overnight session to write to tape AND over 4 days to compare. Something seems to be wrong with this. I think it is important to use the compate option but if this is how long it takes then maybe I should not do it. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks

4 days?
Yowsa!

I'd say something is up...

You may want to update retrospect (6.1.x), update any clients version of retrospect client, restart the server (running retrospect), and run a test when no one else is using files on the RAID.

I have a client with the exact same equipment...and it takes nowhere near as long. However, they just dumped the VXA-2, as tape was wayyyyy to slow. However, last test shows backups of 700GB pretty quickly...
