Have you checked the Import settings panel, if one of your settings might be excluding videos?

    • In the "File Types" brick the "exclude videos" checkmark must not be set,
    • and for some weird reason, the "Raw&Jpeg Pairs" option must not be set to either "jpeg only" or "Raw only".

    Regards

    Léonie

Hm. I tired both of those things. In the import window aperture still can't find my .mov files. And when i drag and drop them in aperture says o files imported!

I assume, you also checked the "Do not import Duplicates" option.

Where are your videos located? In your home folder or on an external drive, or are you importing from a card?

Can Aperture play the movies, after you imported them?

My videos are located on my internal HD.

And the .mov's in aperture that have been imported, back when it would do that, won't play anymore. No error message just a black window where the clip should be. Preview image, yes. But it won't play.

Do not import duplicates should be the problem because these are new files.

Are all your qquicktime movies created the same way? it may be a problem, that aperture no longer supports the video codec the videos are using. Can you open the videos in Quicktime?

Then you could try to set QuickTime as external video editor in the Aperture Preferences > Export panel and tets, if Aperture still can access the videos it already imported, or if the link to the rferenced files is broken.

Can you import quicktime videos, if you create a new. empty library and import into that library?

If not, can you import into aperture, when you try to work from a different user account?

Yes, they are all created on my Canon T2i. And they do play in quicktime.

Chnaged to QT for external editor. No difference!

    Is quicktime different than .mov?

Do you use any programs that clear out space from your Hard Drive? You might have inadvertently deleted a vital cache file, the com.apple.xpchelper.cache located at /System/Library/Caches/

If you have, you can probably get it back by reinstalling the updater from here.

    Is quicktime different than .mov?

.mov is the filename extension for QuickTime movies. But QuickTime is essentially a wrapper, that can contain many different kind of media files with different video codecs. You will only be able to play a QuickTime movie, if you have a matching codec installed for the media fork of that particular Quicktime movie. Here is a list of video formats supported by Aperture:

Aperture 3: About Video and Audio formats in Aperture

I do not see your camera on that list, but Aperture may support more cameras than listed.

I think Aye Es Oh is on to something!
