My iphone 4S battery suddenly seems to be losing its charge in just a few hours. It seems to also be getting hot in the upper portion of the phone back. Without any calling and just checking emails occasionally, the phone is at 40% after 4 hrs being unplugged. What gives? Any help??? Thanks.

I have found that turning off icloud except for contacts, taking all notifications and turning them off except for email, calender, messages, and turning off location services in settings until i need a certain one on, has helped the battery 10 fold. I also did a restore in itunes from my backup. These items all seemed to make a major difference to both my iphone 5 and 4s.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try them and hopefully get a positive result. It is strange that this problem is a recent one and not one I have had since getting the phone.
Its been suggested that its associated with ios 6. A little tweeking here and there until newer updates manage battery usage better can help tho.
