Iphone 4S wont connect to wifi since updating to iOS 6.0.1, can anyone help?

HELP?! my iphone 4S wont let me turn my wifi on since updating to iOS 6.0.1?

i have tried clearing history and cookie and data, re-booting my phone, resetting my network setting and still nothing? as i go to the wifi tab it wont even let me turn my wifi on, so i can not try changing it to auto

also i have no signal as i am on 3 so i can not currently use my phone till the wifi is working again and this is driving me mad!

can anyone help?

Not sure what you mean that you have no signal but are on 3. What are you trying to say?

So your phone has no carrier signal at all? Only good to use on wifi? Have you contacted your carrier to see if they have disconnected your phone? Or that it is still activated with them?

Ralph9430- As I am on the 3 network, since getting my contract I have never had signal so I rely on my wifi to go on my apps and to use my phone. Without wifi I am not able to use my phone so want to get this problem working as soon as possible as I am currently not able to use my phone 😟 and yes I have tried all those steps, still nothing?

chrisfromgastonia- My phone is useless unless I have wifi, I can't use my phone without it, I am still connected with my carrier and they have not disconnected my phone, it seems to have stopped working since my update?

You need to call your carrier and have them activate your phone. Sounds like that has not been done yet.

You may have thought you did this, But you have not and need to call your carrier and they will activate your phone. Thats what the problem is that your having.

chrisfromgastonia- I am on contract don't know whether this makes a diffrence or not? Also I have signal when out just no signal when at home and my wifi has been working fine since I got the phone in January just since the iOS 6.0.1 update it would not let me turn my wifi on?

That clarifies it better, ok, then you need to restore your phone in itunes from your backup first, then if still not right, restore as new.

Also the signal issue may be a carrier issue in your area, but if you dont have good signal normally at your house, some carriers have whats called a network extender that you can purchase and does a great job to give you 4 or 5 bars in your house. So you can check online or call your carrier to see if they have that available to you.

chrisfromgastonia- I have not tried re-setting my whole phone yet as need to back up everything on there onto a disc so I do not loose any pictures or videos, hopefully this works, thank you

Make sure you backup your phone in itunes so when you restore from your backup, its there.

Also about backing up my phone, when charging or plugging my phone in it says that there is not enough back up storage and says that there has not been a back up for 23 weeks or more? I have tried clearing everything in my icloud but still nothing? any ideas on what to do?

You are allowed 5gb of icloud storage, but you can purchase more right on the phone. It tells you in your icloud settings how much you have used and how much is left of your icloud space.

I would run a backup to iTunes and not iCloud. Reset your phone, hold home button and power buttons until Apple logo appears and phone reboots.

If that doesn't help, you might need to do a restore in iTunes. I know that this can be a big pain in the neck, but many people have reported success with getting back onto Wifi by restoring as a new phone and then manually adding everything back to their phone by hand rather than restoring from an old back up. It is possible that something in the backup is causing the conflict with iOS 6.X and keeping you off of Wifi.
