Q: iPhone synced with iTunes, but not Phone... Why?

I did this with my phone (giving my old iPhone 4 to her so she can replace her iPhone 3), but her telephone number and calling ability did not sync!! Why?

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.4)
