Password 1234

Question

Password 1234

Long story short... I had to reinstall OS X 10.4. Now I am asked for the default password upon rebooting and it won't accept the the password. After three tries it even says "Hint: password is 1234". I enter 1234... won't accept.
What gives?

G4 powerbook, Mac OS X (10.4)

Boot from the Tiger Install DVD, and choose Reset Password from the Utilities menu once the DVD is booted.

If you still have problems you may want to post your question in the 10.4 discussions rather than these 10.3 forums.

HI Turtle, and welcome to the discussions.

I seem to recall 1234 being a default factory-setting for the root password. If you're also being prompted for a user name, try "root" for the user and "1234" for the password.
