System preferences icon disappeared
When I find it under the applications folder, it has an "X" through it and says its either "damaged or incomplete. I'm running 10.6.8. How do I fix this?!?

Have you been using any "clean your mac" or "speed up your mac" type applications?
If you have the 10.6 installation disk, re-install then run the 10.6.8 Combo updater.
Probably you should first check your disk with Disk Utility.
