The same for me....

Any info in the Apple Store in Paris... Team just told me to uninstall the OS, download a new version of the OS online, reinstall.... But it din't work anymore....

At the end, I called the support. They told me that they had some request like that and seems that the 10.8.2 upgrade pkg doesn't work...

At the end they just told me to wait for a new upgrade....should be coming soon...

Same issue here.

Updated old laptop to 10.8.2 all updates applied just before migrating to new laptop (13 Retina)

Now iPhoto won't launch because it says it was opened from a newer version...

And i can't update the iPhoto because it needs 10.8.2, which isn't available for this new laptop..really?

Oy...

APPLE PLEASE release the 10.8.2 Retina update soon so I don't have to rebuild my ENTIRE iPhoto library.

Reply to my own issue.

I was able to command + Option on iPhoto launch and rebuild my iPhoto library.

It was then able to correct the too up to date Library and then open it in iPhoto 9.3...sweet

So If for some reason you get a new laptop, and do all of the updates and your iPhoto still says it can't open because your iPhoto isn't on 9.4.2 (see pic above)...all you have to do is rebuild your iPhoto library and it will correct it.

Would love to be on the newest iPhoto but evidently that won't happen until 10.8.2 is released for these new laptops....

this did not work for me. I bought a mbp 13" online with 128gb and it wasn't enough so I went to the store and bought another one with 256gb and I can't update the software to 10.8.2 and can't use iphoto. however the first mbp 13" retina I bought from the online store was able to update to 10.8.2 which doesn't make sense. the option+command key did not work for me.

This is Bryanyyu I couldn't sign on using my other apple id. This problem did not effect the first rmbp that I purchased from the online store. It's only effecting the rmbp 13" that I purchased from the apple store in Towson,Md. Not being able to use all the features on a $2k+ laptop is inexcusable. That's like buying a Porsche and not being able to drive it fast or the tech telling you that you can only drive 50mph or else the tire will explode. There is no reason that they should sell a product like the rmbp 13" and tell you to wait for an update that suppose to come I. The near future with no eta. If they knew this was going to be a problem they should have dumbed down iPhoto so that you can use it on the brand new rmbp 13" you just bought. Apple is much better than this. There is no excuse for these defects.

Hey Bryanyyu,

You should be able to dumb down the iPhoto, a rebuild does exactly that.

That is how I was able to get around my issue for now and make my existing iPhoto 9.3 work with 10.8.1 and a newer iPhoto library...

Follow these instructions - a complete iPhoto library rebuild fixed my issue...hit Rebuild Database

Hope that helps....yes it does suck that they had to pull the 10.8.2 update for these certain laptops, but evidently the 10.8.2 update actually caused issues on these new laptops...so it sounds like they pulled it for good reason.
