External monitor no longer connecting to MBA

Hey guys. Thanks for clicking through.

I'll keep this as simple as possible.

Before

  • External monitor (Dell U2211H) connected to 2011 11" MacBook Air via Thunderbolt > Mini-DP to DVI adapter (from Apple) > Monitor.
  • Works fine.

After (I frequently disconnect/reconnect the cable to switch between Mac and PC)

  • MacBook monitor transitions briefly to blue (like it always does to resolve the new display arrangements).
  • Returns to desktop view, but no sign of external monitor being connected.
  • Monitor does not indicate at all that a source has been connected.

What I've Tried

  • SMC and PRAM reset.
  • Different cable.
  • Different monitor.
  • Restarting (obviously).
  • Disconnecting / reconnecting many, many times.
  • Restarting monitor.
  • Manually selecting DVI input from monitor.
  • Searching this and many other forums.
  • Using 'Detect Displays' in System Preferences.

This is an ostensibly random occurence. I simply plugged in the DVI cable and found that it would no longer register the display. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks to those who have taken the time to read this post.

Alex
