Why is Mail deleting my attachments (IMAP?)

Hi, my colleague and I use godaddy.com IMAP accounts through Apple Mail.

We have the problem whereby when we open an email (with attachment) on our iPhones, we can view the attachment. But then, the attachment has disappeared when we view the same message in Mail on our macs.

I have contacted godaddy.com and they say it's a Mac/Mail issue.

Any ideas on how we can solve this? Help! So frustrating!

@Mborowedge - This does seem like a client side issue, but I would like to get a few more details from you if possible. When you get an email with an attachment and view it, it no longer shows on Apple mail, but does it show still in Web Based Email? Also is it all atchments or just certain types of files? What is a file type or two you have tried this with? Also can we get the sie of the attachemnts? Finally I was also just curious which version of Apple Mail you are using? Thanks in advance for the information! ^Colby Go Daddy Social Media Team

I just experienced this exact same problem. Same deal - GoDaddy, IMAP account. I first viewed the attachment (.pdf) on my iPhone with no issues. Then when I opened Mail a few minutes later on my MacBook, the attachment was gone from both my phone and my MacBook. Incredibly, incredibly frustrating. I just lost an important attachment that I was about to send to a client. Not good, Apple (or GoDaddy). My attachment does not show up on web mail, either. Also, the name and subject were stripped out of the email - now they say (No Sender) and (No Subject), where before there was a sender and a subject.

Has anyone figured this one out? I have the same problem. GoDaddy, IMAP account. I can view attachment on my iPhone and iPad, no problem. But on MBP, Mountain Lion, I see the email but there is no attachment. I then log into GoDaddy Workspace and the attachment is there. The only place that the attachment is missing is MBP Mountain Lion Mail.

Can someone help?

I'm on osx 10.8.2 and this attachment issue is happening with multiple people but not always.

Thank you.

Hi Colby,

Yes, when the attachement is missing on the desktop client, it is still available on my iOS devices and on the Web Based Email. Many times, I can rebuild my mailbox on OSX mail and the attachment will be available.

Please let me know if there is any other information you need to help get to the bottom of this.

Thank you and I am on 10.8.2.

I am experiencing the same problem on El Capitan (10.12.1) on a new MacBook (late 2015) using Mail (10.1), although it is not a GoDaddy account. It seems to be specific to PDF files although it does not happen to all PDF files.

When message is initially received PDF is shown as an attachment. After e-mail has been opened once, PDF disappears. It does not matter if you have viewed or opened PDF, it seems to be related to opening the e-mail. Not tied to single sender, only happens to a small percentage of attachments, just started this week, not clear if it is related to last upgrade to OS (10.12-10.12.1) or something else, does not seem to anything except PDFs, do not have a virus that up to date Intego VirusBarrier (10.9.5) can find, happens to e-mails with multiple attachments and only PDF disappears. Not an iCloud account, it is an AT&T account. Have not checked to see if attached PDF is still in web mail version of e-mail.

Very frustrating. Any assistance would be much appreciated.
