Q: Upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion: Airparrot stopped working

Hello,

I used airparrot on my appletv 3 and my <acbook (late 2008) to mirror my screen. However, I updated from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion and now suddenly, Airparrot cannot find my Appletv anymore, it continues saying: "searching for devices...".

I already tried rebooting my macbook, disconnecting the electricity of the Appletv unit and removing the Airparrot app. All without result.

Can someone please help me as this is the only functionality I use my AppleTV for... I want to cry.... I can't even remember why I wanted to upgrade to Mountain Lion except curiosity!

Any insight is much appreciated.

Contact the AirParrot developer since that is not an Apple product. See if they might help. But first you should check for a software update from them for their device that is compatible with Mountain Lion.

Thanks for the quick reply,

however, I already contacted the support mailbox of airparrot but did not receive a reply (yet).
According the website the app is compatible with Mountain Lion. Is it possible that there is some kind of setting in Mountain Lion which changed?

I don't know. Other people using Mountain Lion are using it successfully. The current version is 1.5. Is that the version your are running?

I just also noticed that I cannot see any airplay icon in Itunes, is there anywhere I need to activate something? Home sharing is enabled and I can access my mp3 files from my tv, but I cannot stream something which is playing in itunes to my tv anymore.

All ideas are welcome... thanks!!

I don't use Air Parrot, so you should wait to talk to their tech support to see what they suggest before looking for an issue with OS X. I know nothing about using Airplay, but here's a bunch of help stuff:

AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). For non-qualifying Macs you can try using Air Parrot.

Whilst reading through it I think I found the solution, I used my iphone as remote for my Apple TV. I reset the whole thing and removed the remote and suddenly it was working again. So nothing to do with Mountain Lion, thanks
